A tooth consists of two parts. The crown is the top part of the tooth that is visible inside the mouth. The root reaches down into the jawbone and holds the tooth in place. Tooth consists of following parts- o Enamel – the sturdy outer coating o Dentine – a softer material supporting the enamel forming most parts of the tooth o Cementum – a strong material coating the root's floor o Dental pulp – the tender tissue on the centre of the enamel The root canal system contains the pulp and extends from the crown to the end of the root.
